Welcome to the website of the Florida Public Telecommunications Association
(the FPTA) and FPTA Technologies.
The Florida Public Telecommunications Association (FPTA) serves the
industry as the state-wide legal, regulatory and legislative advocate for
payphone service providers and related public telecommunications providers
in Florida.
FPTA's efforts are directed at improving the financial and operational
viability of payphone services in Florida by active involvement and
advocacy at local, state, and federal levels.
On the local, municipal and county levels the Association has
participated in numerous cases and initiatives affecting the industry on
key issues such as local permitting, payphone ordinances and rights of way
issues.
At the state level, the Association has initiated or intervened in
every major legal, regulatory and legislative decision in Tallahassee
affecting the public telecommunications industry since the authorization
of competition in 1985.
On the national level, FPTA has been active in the major cases that
have posed real threats or opportunities for our industry and serves on
the board of directors of many major committees and on the American Public
Communications Council (APCC).
FPTA is a member of the APCC state association partnership program for
PSPs-which brings our members an added set of benefits, including reduced
charges for dial around processing through APCC Services. FPTA also
periodically provides members with updates and industry alerts on
important developments & requirements. As a member of the FPTA, you
will receive a complimentary subscription to Perspectives Magazine, the
only national monthly publication devoted to the public communications
industry.
