Let me assure you that the FPTA is working for you every day, and we
think that getting information about our activities to our members is
vital to our success.

the Florida House of Representatives and the Senate. Moreover, we work
with legislative staff and members of the House and Senate to ensure that
they understand how issues will affect payphone operators and their
businesses. Additionally, we review all actions before the Florida Public

As an example, last legislative session our legislative and legal
representatives found a bill that would have had the unintended affect of
increasing your telephone access charges by as much as $8.00 per month.
We immediately met with the House and Senate Leaders and educated them
how the proposed legislation would materially and adversely affect your
business. After meeting with industry representatives and staff, our
counsel drafted an amendment to the proposed legislation excluding all
payphone access lines.
These types of activities take place on a regular basis, without our
members even knowing about it. this example shows the importance of our
daily monitoring activities. We allow you to focus your efforts on your
business, while we patrol the local, state and federal regulatory skies.
After all, if an issue passes it's too late to fight.
